Meet Your Trainers
Fitness is a huge passion of mine, and has been for many years. I love sharing this journey with others, and I am thrilled to team up with my partner Richard to offer our clients a well rounded, in-depth approach to fitness, no matter what level you are at, and no matter what your goals might be.
Rachel's Fitness Background
I always grew up playing sports, and had a love for the team atmostphere, but more importantly, I enjoyed the process of getting better and challenging myself in (what felt like) higher stress situations. I grew up playing baseball, basketball, volleyball and badminton mostly, but I seemed to naturally be half decent at any sport I undertook.
I started running after my Mom died, as an outlet for my grief. I went on to participate in a few half marathon races, without spectacular results.
In 2011 I had my second baby and I began my weight lifting journey when he was 2 weeks old. That year was a big one for me as I sought to build my identity as someone other than "just" a Mom. I participated in multiple obstacle course races, ran a half marathon, and stepped on stage in a fitness competition when he was 18 months old. In 2016 I began taking running more seriously after my marriage fell apart, and in 2017 when I met Richard, he became my running coach. I ran my first marathon in 2019 in Mississauga and qualified for Boston there. Since then I have run 8 marathons and now find a balance between this sport I love, and the sport of weight lifting.
I have trained my body in heavy lifting, building muscle and definition, to endurance prep, speed & resiliency for road racing. I have transformed my body from lean & very defined, to strong and fast, able to withstand running multiple 115 km weeks in a row (and back again multiple times).
I have taken my 10+ years of experience as a Personal Trainer & athlete and have trained women to:
~ lose weight
~ race multiple running distances (5K to 30K)
~ be able to do their first pull up
~ complete their first triathlon
~ make it through an obstacle course race
~ recover from surgery to be stronger than ever
No goal is out of reach, it's just a matter of having the right plan to get you there safely & efficiently!
Richard's Fitness Background
I have been active as far back as I can remember, from following a weight lifting program as a teen, to competing in wrestling in high school, to dabbling in crossfit, and then transitioning to marathon running in 2010.
I highly value the structure & discipline found in fitness, and have lived this lifestyle most of my life. Marathon running has brought me many memories, and I will never forget making it to the start line of the Boston Marathon in 2012. You can also find me in my home gym most days of the week, prioritizing foundation building and building a strong, capable body that can withstand what I put it through on a daily basis.
There is nothing more important than health to me, and nothing more valuable than a strong, willing, capable body.
I started running coaching almost a decade ago, and have coached multiple clients to their first Boston Marathon experience by focusing on building a strong foundation & consistent action. I quickly realized that coaching others on their own journey was just as fulfilling as my own. My client's goals became my goals and I am heavily invested in their success, no matter what the goal is.
I now train others from my home gym in Dain City, and truly enjoy witnessing the growth and gains in my clients. My favourite people to work with are those who show up without excuses, work hard and keep at it day in and day out for the long-term.
